How to become a Christian

   First, let's answer two questions.

  1. What is a Christian? A Christian is a person who accepts Jesus Christ for who he said he was, has an ever growing relationship with him, tries to obey him and depends on his strength for life situations.
  2. Why become a Christian? Jesus said of himself "The Son of man hascome to seek and to save that which was lost" (Luke 19:10). That wich was lost was the fellowship and relationship that God had with the human race. That was lost when Adam and Eve disobeyed God in the Garden of eden. From that day to this everyone is born seperated from the fellowship and relationship that conintended to have with each of us. That is why all of us in one way or another and to onedegree or another sense an emptines within us. We try unsuccessfully in inumerable ways to fill this void.

Now let's look at six facts you must know and accept in order to become a Christian.

  1. God Loves you.  John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  Ephesians 2:4-5 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.
  2. You are a sinner. Romans 3:10 As it is written:    "There is no one righteous, not even one"
  3. Sin separates you from God. Romans 3:23 "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God"
  4. You can't save your self. Ephesians 2:8-9 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.
  5. God sent His Son to remove the sin barrier and restore so you can have a relationship with him. Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 2 Corinthians 5:21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 1 Peter 2:24 God made him who had no sin to be sin[a] for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
  6. You can receive Christ through faith. John 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. Acts 16:31 "They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household." Romans 10:9-10 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
  • Admit or agree with God that you are a sinner.
  • Repent or turn away from your sinfulness.
  • Ask him to forgive your sins and accept his forgiveness.
  • Invite Jesus into your life as Savior and Lord [boss].
  • Commit your self to live for him.
  • Tell another Christian what you have done
  • Be baptised and join a church
  • Study the Bible and grow in your new life.
